NEW DISCOVERIES EXPAND VERDSTONE PROJECT
ABINGTON VENTURES INC. (the "Corporation") During the
last few months field personnel retained by the Corporation has
made significant discoveries. The new discoveries on Corporation
optioned property is in an area of previous IP work where anomalies
have been defined as the V4 zone. The material is described as green
quartz similar to the Verdstone Mine vein material.
A new zone has been identified that bears green quartz similar
to the Verdstone Mine material in an area of two large clay patches.
This zone, called Verdstone East or VE will be sampled and detailed
immediately.
Work conducted by the same personnel working for Hellix Ventures
Inc., located veins within a kilometer of the Verdstone Gold Mine.
Samples collected by a “Qualified Person” from this
vein yielded gold to 0.27 ounces per ton from the surface material,
hosted in brecciated greenish quartz vein float.
The most notable zone located recently, is a large area of green
quartz in outcrop and scattered over a large area with major clay
fields. This area is located to the west of the Verdstone Mine.
This zone has never been sampled or trenched by any previous exploration
effort.
All of the new discoveries are within existing claims optioned
by Company. The company plans on IP and drill testing the best of
these discoveries.
The Verdstone Mine consisted of three stacked zones of mineralization,
which were profitably mined, one after another from approximately
1992 to 1996. Production was estimated at approximately 500,000
tons of 0.5 ounce per ton gold. The company’s first drill
programme discovered a new zone (V3W) and is consistent with the
geology of epithermal gold deposits and could indicate replication
throughout the area.
